Yes, that's well said! And to answer the question of the thread, I think I'd have to go with APC. I just find them to be a bit more melodic and I enjoy their work just a bit more than Tool.  |

I wouldn't be able to choose. I love both bands so much. This situation is kind of like pleasure and pain. You cant' have pleasure if you have no pain to base it on. Only with APC and Tool its Pleasure and Pleasure, so how do you choose? I pick both, even though that is cheating.  |

I think Tool is just as melodic. Not quite. I don't think you're going to have any sweeping violins in Tool, which made a lot of APC so much more melodic. And Maynard's voice, in my opinion, is much more melodic, soaring and beautiful in APC than with Tool. HIs voice is amazing no matter what, but, again, my opinion only, I think his voice is even more so amazing in APC. Different songs require different vocal styling and to me the vocal styling Maynard used with APC's songs is just so pure and beautiful. Not that Tool songs or Maynard's voice in Tool songs are not amazing also, but yes, the vocal styling is much different and as much as I love Tool, I'm absolutely in awe of APC's music and MJK's voice in APC. |

I don't want to sterotype cause I hate that but maybe you like APC more from the feminine side and I like Tool more because of the raw agressive masculine side. Either way Maynard is amazing with both bands. But IMO he is melodic in both. Just two different forms of melodic. Sweet melodic and aggressive melodic. Ok, so I suck at debating, but oh well.

I say we treat this debate like a form of Euthanasia. Imagine having to choose whether or not some loved one should be euthanized. Now assume we couldn't make a choice, so we didn't. The loved one is going to live their life as a vegetable for now on. We are just going to let fate decide when their time is.
I say instead of trying to decide which band he would be better off in. We just enjoy the fact that Maynard is not of vegetable, and some other poor chap is. ;D
