Although I hate to post rumors.....this one might be closer to the money that anything else I have heard. This guy works at HMV in the UK and the Tool cd came up in the catalog with a release date of Sep. 19th, which would be the the 20th for the US. He swears this catalog is always right. We do have to take in to consideration that tentative release dates can also be set back for various reasons. And this also may just be a bunch of crap. But it's worth posting I think. Here's the link to HMV: Tool Release

I think it might be pretty accurate cause the past CDs I have checked out were relased on the date promised. But not all are always correct. But this makes me very happy ;D

Oh, hey Kevin. I was just coming here to delete this thread. I hate posting rumors and this is no exception. It's bugged me since I put it up and explained that also at the website. But.....we might as well have something to talk about. When you say the cd's you checked out have been released on the date promised......who's promise are you talking about? The thing that troubles me with this date is that they apparently are still in the recording process (according to Blair's post). I don't know how you can have a release date when you're not even done recording.

That is very true, H.
Well when I was lookin to buy CDs in the past they were released in the stores on that date they said they would be. So who knows, It might be. But not all cds were released on the day they said it would be.

I was listening to tool on the radio the other day, and I started getting exited about the new album. Then this shitty new band comes on, and I thought, man that has to suck for them. The new bands I mean. All these new songs that have been put out these last four years will be blown away by the new tool album. I can only imagin that feeling for tool. To do that. I remember this video interview in austrailia I saw. Maynard says "You know you have to figure if people like us weren't doing it, who would be, you know you kinda have to like stay here to at least represent your ideas cause otherwise you know the medioker (not spelled right) will just march in to take your place. They will fill the holes, so if nobady is representing a higher ideal or try to push the art to a whole new level it doesnt matter somebody is going to fill in a space and it will be medioker. Somebody has to do it." WOW I love that guy. Its better that Christmas.

Tool definitely is one of the best and no one does do what they do. But there are more great artists out there and I think it's wrong to say they are the only ones with higher ideals. Just don't listen to the radio!!! Radio music is shit.

My prediction is that if the album is coming out this year, it will be on September 27.

B-b-b-but! The new Disturbed comes out around that time too! (So says Best Buy) Damn it! I can't afford both right now! (Though Tool would be on top of my list of course.)

More rumors and speculation, from toolshed.down.net: Mario in Croatia writes that "Tool's booking agents have contacted all the biggest european promotors / festivals, and a tour is being booked for summer 2006." If this is the case, coupled with ongoing recording sessions, it means we should expect a Tool record before then. Hopefully my prediction of September 27 will be correct, and TOOL will tour in the U.S. during winter and spring, but who really knows what the hell is going on?
