I liked them after hearing The Red on the radio a lot. Had that cd for a while (my ex-boyfriend swiped it ). But anyways I really love the song Closure. What other stuff of theirs would you recommend Jo?

I liked them after hearing The Red on the radio a lot. Had that cd for a while (my ex-boyfriend swiped it ). But anyways I really love the song Closure. What other stuff of theirs would you recommend Jo? Closure is brilliant. I bought all 3 of their cd's. Their first Point #1 is a really good cd, it was their beginning, you can sort of hear it in most of the songs. Their next cd was 'Wonder What's Next' it's got some great songs on it, I particularily like 'Comfortable Liar'; 'The Red' and Closure on that album. The new one is called 'This Type of Thinking (Could do us In)' on this album, I really like 'Get Some'; 'Vitamin R'; Tug-O-War'; 'To Return'; 'Emotional Drought' and most definitely the best one on the album is 'Bend the Bracket' it's all about the WAR. You could say the entire Album is very cool....

I despise Chevelle. I think they are the biggest TOOL rip-offs on the planet. Their lead singer tries to sound way too much like Maynard. Their drummer uses Paiste cymbals, probably to sound like Danny Carey. I made the mistake of purchasing their debut album and I couldn't believe how much they rip off TOOL's style. I ended up destroying the CD with my bare hands while listening to "Judith" at volume 8.

Hmmm, I hadn't noticed that they sound like or try to emulate Tool.

Hmmm, I hadn't noticed that they sound like or try to emulate Tool. Neither had I really. Just think they are really cool. I mean I'm not going to stop listening to TOOL just because Maynard sounds similar to Kurt Cobain, Bowie and some others. I think it's awesome that they all have their idols, and that their idol is Maynard. Their music is not identical to TOOL, and I think they've done well for themselves. IMO. Sorry you feel that way Nyarlathotep

while listening to chevelle a friend of mine (who isnt into music) said, "hey this guy sounds like Maynard"..my friend knows who mjk cuz i listen to him all the time but anyways...
yeah chevelle and tool deffinatley sound a little similiar..the vocals deffinatley do it...as for drumming, the drummer of Chevelle comes no where close to DC...anyways I deffinitley listen to Chevelle often and they are one of my favorite bands...
however they do suck live...saw them live twice and bought their live DVD from VA...they are just no animated enough on stage for me i guess....
Their music rocks and their new CD "This type of thinking could do us in" rocks...all their Cd's are listenable from track 1 on....hope they stick around for a while and if ur not into them i suggest you do...most kids around where i live..CT...think Chevelle is a joke...then again most people around here love Linkin Park and other bullshit pop...

I agree evil. Chevelle blows live. Ah the beauty of studio filters. I don't think they sound the same. Vocally they both have really cool voices. But DC is the greatest drummer alive and kicks whoever drums for Chevelle's ass. ;D

i like chevelle, but i have noticed they do try to sound a little like tool. the reason for that is they idolize tool and respect them as musicians. i know its not a good reason for trying to sound like another band, but i guess its flattering.
