Any of you listen to Tori Amos? I must say I find her amazing. That voice of hers, the piano, the raw and honest lyrics (which reminds me of the way Trent makes his songs as well), it sounds magical to me sometimes. Nobody around here seems to know her, but I guess she's quite famous in the US. I've talked to some old fans of her, and they say they don't like The Beekeeper that much, because it reflects an adult Tori, and doesn't have that "rebel" side anymore, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I can't say much anyway, cuz I've just recently got into listening to her work. Anyone have any thoughts about her?

I love Tori Amos... i just got her DVD Live in Sunny Florida two days ago and i have two of her CD's...she is playing at Hammerstein on birthday and i would love to go but the show sold out and now some ticket broker wants $185 for nose bleeders...
anyways...i find her music very enlightening and powerful...it soothes me very much...i think my favorite songs include, "crucify" and "precious things"...its funny that i listen to her because i listen to alot of really hard and heavy shit...and then when i turn her on it's a totally different mood...
And not to mention she is SICK at the piano...i havent heard The Beekeeper but i would love to....do u have it? does anyone?
Im glad someone on the board also enjoys Tori...shes brilliant

I absolutely love Tori Amos . She is amazing. And, I really like The Beekeeper. I think it's a very good album. My favorite songs on that particular album are Ribbons Undone and Goodbye Pisces. Although, I really like Cars and Guitars and Witness as well. Beth

Well, I had already heard about her, but never had the initiative to really listen to any of her songs (yes, yes, blasphemy ;D ). A friend of mine offered me that cd/dvd compilation, Tales of a Librarian, and I got instantly hooked. I also bought The Beekeeper some weeks ago, and I like it very much, especially those two songs Beth already mentioned. But I can't seem to find any other albums, at least near where I live

The other day I was thinking of how awesome would it be if MJK could do some guest vocals on one of her albums. It would be so great, just thinking about it leaves me so ahhhhhh ;D

It's very odd to see others getting into Tori so late in her career.
For those of you who haven't listened to her as of yet or are still relatively new to Toriland, listen to her albums chronologically. I think that for her, it's essential. Little Earthquakes, Boys for Pele, and Under the Pink are three albums everyone needs to experience. Scarlet's Walk is also a wonderful album.
I feel that with most music, you have to be ready for it. You have to have thought those thoughts or experienced that experience to really appreciate what is being said. Tori is all about connection and being there in that moment with you. She knows that you know that she knows....
Also, she is an amazing live performer. If you have a chance to see her live, see her regardless of the price you have to pay. It is worth the experience.
Happy discovering...

That is very cool! More bands should do this.
Thanks G.
