Sounds cool, but, my wizened old prune, is this movie worth watching? Or is it just cool to get stoned and laugh at??? I don't remember. I'm too fucking old!! Why I oughta....... Seriously, I haven't watched it in a long time, so whether it's good enough to just sit and watch or you need to be stoned and laugh at it......I couldn't tell you. But I do know it was a very good movie. But, it's a 70's movie. It's going to have that look and feel of an old 70's movie.

It is worth watching. I saw it when I was about 20 or so & really liked it.

I read the novel by Harry Harrison in my teens for a literature class - saw the film somtime after . Enjoyed the book more than the movie

The books are always better than the movies, in my opinion.
There are a few where I enjoyed them just as much as the book, but not many.
I think because reading, you form your own ideas about the characters and someone elses interpretation just doesn't fit well. Plus you are using your own imagination while reading and then someone else puts their imagination to it and it kind of ruins it usually. That and most of the time the book is changed too much to make the film.

I think an exception to this is The Sawshank Redemption, but probably because it was just a short story.

I think an exception to this is The Sawshank Redemption, but probably because it was just a short story. That would absolutely be an exception. In fact, I also think another Stephen King one would be an exception: "The Green Mile". I enjoyed that movie just as much as the book. It was very, very well done.
