My father's reaction to this type of situation inspired this.
Say your in Wal-Mart (or anywhere, really. Doesn't matter) and you see a kid, who can't be any older than 8, with a big spiked mohawk and the faint signs of what might have been temporary blue hair dye. What's the first thought that runs through your mind?

My first thought would be that I would hope it was the kids decision that he wanted his hair that way and not the parents decision that this is the way they wanted their kid to look.

I would think that when I was in that age I didn't even know what a mohawk is...or that you could dye your hair. But when I was young, things were a lot different anyway...*sigh* heheheh

First thing that comes to my mind is: I bet he is one expressive personality.. and nice hair..:)I did a lot of crazy stuff with my hair too.. but not when I was 8... I was a couple of years older anyway... However I would wonder how far his parents would let him go though before he got piercings..

My farthers reaction: "That should be considered, child abuse" Among other hurtfull things.
So, shall we hold him down and dress him in drag and take him to the gay bar let the others hit on him then have him bAbtIzeD with pigs blood.

It would probably be a mixture of cool and why?. I mean I didn't know what a mohawk was at that age. I was too busy playing with my barbie doll!

If I were to be completely honest, I would say my first reaction would be . At 8 years old I would never have known what a mohawk was. At 8 years old I wasn't even concerned with my appearance. I was concerned with my friends and barbie dolls and tree climbing (I have four brothers and so I was a bit of a tomboy lol) . And, truth be told, I would probably wonder why his parents allowed him to dye his hair blue (even if it is only temporary). Call me old fashioned . This is just my opininion, though. Bethanne

My intial reaction would be "kick ass!" and then i would look for the parents and see how eccentric they were. to each it's own. i am in no position to judge anyone so i'd just let it slide. it'd be weird but everyone has their own idea of what cool is i suppose.

there bloody every where in Aus all these little kids with mohawks but i agree its only a matter of time until they start taking on the attitueds that come with the look and believe me would a parent want thier child to display that kind of attitude? would make it quite hard to live with.

I think I had a mowhawk when I was 5 or 6. Not for very long. My dad is kind of like "Mr. Business man" and I wouldnt say he was discouraging of my artistic pursuits but I get the feeling he would rather I went to study law. I guess he wants "the best for me." I also think he understands that we have different opinions on what "the best for me" is. So I guess he's kinda cool like that,
having said that, every weekend when I go to see him its like,,,"get a haircut" or "why do you always wear black tshirts" yada yada.
I dont think i've ever had one haircut that made him happy. When I had dreads he bribed me a new guitar to cut them off after a year of having them, haha. I almost didnt get to go on the family holiday because we would be meeting recent additions to the family.
When live 8 was on he called Motley Crue "pathetic excuses for human beings" though which I thought was kinda cold. I was all "hey dad thats like, kinda my scene"

You know if i saw a little kid with a mohawk i would think what horrible parents, i mean think of what mohawks portray and then think of what kind of parents they would be, but any way i would want to slap them in the face.
