Howard Phillips Lovecraft is one of my favorite writers. If you've never read his stuff, I highly recommend starting off with his poetry, then reading some short stories, then finally graduating to a novella such as "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" or "At the Mountains of Madness."
Here is a poem he wrote inside a short story called "Polaris":
Slumber, watcher, till the spheres, Six and twenty thousand years Have revolv'd, and I return To the spot where now I burn. Other stars anon shall rise To the axis of the skies; Stars that soothe and stars that bless With a sweet forgetfulness: Only when my round is o'er Shall the past disturb thy door.

Wow that just put every poem I've ever written to shame. That was really awesome. I'm going to have to check this out more in depth. Thanks Nyarlathotep!

You're welcome, voiceofgod. I'm happy that someone finally posted in this thread! Let me know when and if you get your hands on some of his stories. They are hard to find sometimes.

Do you think Amazon would have anything? Does he have any books or does he deal with magazine articles??

Yes, Amazon should have books that are compilations of short stories and novellas by H.P. Lovecraft. (Before his death in 1937, he was only published in pulp magazines.) Beware, however - some of these so-called "Lovecraft books" are merely stories by other horror writers who have continued to write about some of the characters he created. Read the reviews first and make sure the stories are actually by H.P. Lovecraft and not one of his followers.
