And I agree MJK should do more to act out, but while he's still selling records he might be concerned about losing fans. He should probably wait until he retires and has more free time for that kind of stuff. Remember he's a very busy guy. Glad your here. P.S. I'm going to see Constantine this weekend. Hey there to all of you. First of all, I want to thank Halo for this board, it's a good place to talk about the little blue man, without fear of stupid jokes or insinuations. I myself have been a fan of Tool since Aenima came out, and it has been a rollercoaster of emotions since then. Music that makes me think and create my own judgement about it, not just conforming with what is supposedly the theme of each song, but rather try to figure out a meaning that enlightens my spirit somehow. That's what Tool is to me. And MJK, well, what's to be said? Brilliant singer (still to find out someone with a voice as sweet, yet powerful, as his), his performance on-stage, which I had the pleasure of seeing in two shows, one with Tool and another one with APC, and all that energy that defines him as a true artist, it just blows me away. Unfortunately, there's not even a single soul around here that likes Tool or APC, or even NIN  and it's frustrating sometimes not to be able to share the enthusiasm when a new album comes out, or just talk about the meaning of a particular song, and things like that. But well, internet's useful for many things, other than pr0n  Hmmm, this is getting long, so I'm going to check out the rest of the board ;D Spiral out, keep going. |

Hi all..I am sorry, I am really bad at this introducing myself thing, but I'm going to give it my best shot here  . My name is Beth. I am 25 years old. I am glad I found this site. I have been a lurker at other sites (13th step and tdn) and have been turned off by the rudeness and general hostility on those boards lol. It's nice to find one where everybody seems cool and real and it's going to make it easier for my shy self to get involved here . So, anyway, just a little about me. I hope I can fit in here . I'm glad you found your way to this board. We have some really great people here and we all understand the hostility you have seen. You don't ever have to worry about that here. (I won't allow it)

I would hope that MJK's beliefs and convictions would over ride a fear of losing fans. If some fans jump ship simply because they may not agree with a man's personal opinions, so be it. I'd rather stick to my convictions and have less people like me than to not be able to express myself just to be more popular. Again, I would hope MJK feels the same. Even if his opinons sifted in to the music, which many people are bitching about....I wouldn't consider it true art if the artist wasn't true to himself. If an artist puts out "safe" art, that he/she knows will appeal to the masses and sell more, instead of putting out their true beliefs and expressing them......it wouldn't really be true art in my opinion. |

I didn't mean it quite the way you took it Halo. I know M would never sell out his beliefs for fans or selling records. I just meant he might be keeping a lid on speaking and just conveying his feelings, obviously, through his music. He may not want to speak out because everybody already gives him shit for his views and lyrics.
