The Noose... where to start?
If you've heard the aMOTION DVD commentaries, you've probably know that this is one of MJK's favorites songs on the Thirteen Step album, and with no need for explanation... the song is just purely beautiful.
I try to always make up a story of my own about a song that I like before hearing the reason behind it from it's author. And this has applied immensely on any of MJK's work. Anyway, here goes what I first thought The Noose was about:
There's this guy that lived long ago and he was a serial killer. He enjoyed making people suffer, for very long periods of time. Although the police couldn't catch him, he had a very identifiable birth mark that he inherited from his dad along side of his neck that he always check to hide from view.
On a very grimsy day, when he was out to decide which person was next, he finally decided on a young lady. He followed her, took her by the back, put out his hand over her mouth and carried her into the alley. Details aren't important here... after hours of sadistic practice, when he was about to slash her throat he noticed his birthmark on her. He realized that this person he was about to kill may be his daughter (from one of the many rapes he had commited) and, somehow, this young lady realized this as well.
The police arrived by tip of one neighbor, and when the police noticed that this person was the serial killer they were after for such a long time they started firing. The girl, with the energy out of nowhere, jumped in to save her father. The killer didn't know how to respond, and whispered to her that he was sorry; her daughter smiled. The police kept firing killing both of them.
And then... the killer wakes up in a womb... he has been reborn (this is were the song comes in). He had repented before his death so he was given another shot, but he declines. The song plays the role of his conciousness in this moment. And when the councious asks "But I'm more little curious about how you're planning to go about making you're ammends to the dead," he decides to receive the full punishment of what he feels he deserves: go to hell. After several weeks of moving in a such way that his umbilical chord wraps like a halo in his head and just spend the rest of his days crawling to pull it down to his neck, he chokes himself.
And... well... there... jeje. I know... wierd... but I like it. What do you think?
