okay...so i went into NYC and went to the alex grey art exhibit....long story short, I ran into Alex Grey(which was so awsome)...I ask him about the new TOOL album...he says, "On the new TOOL album Maynard has taken a whole new approach to singing on the album....no one has ever done what hes done before...he doesnt even really sing on some of the songs..instead of saying words he'll just say syllables or the beginning of words..and they are done recording."
So...i mean...this is some awsome news...i cant wait to hear MJK's new style on singing...or whatever he is gonna sound like... im even more amped now!!!!!! And What is this not saying words business? Just syllables? Anyway...this is pretty reliable news ya know...from alex grey...and he mentioned some shit that Adam Jones has stepped it up...woooo....

If he has a good sense of humour it doesnt show in this, maybe he likes misinforming... but. I would rather be ignorant. on this topic any way

I think Mr. Grey has a good sense of humor. Exactly what I was thinking. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but why would Alex Grey just tell anyone private information about the new cd? I PMed Blair about this, but I doubt I'll hear back. I just can't see Mr. Grey saying shit he has to know is not his place to say. And I'm sure if they were done recording, something would have been said at Toolband and the last update from Blair said they were recording. I think Mr. Grey having some fun with you, money.

I would rather be ignorant. on this topic any way If I'm understanding correctly what you are saying, I feel the same way. I'm really tired of all the trying to figure out when the cd and/or dvd is coming out. I'm fine with just waiting for it and knowing I'll be thrilled when we get it. I don't want to guess at the release date, the title or the content. I don't want to decipher any of Blair's hints (if they even are really hints). I'd just rather leave it all alone until there is official word on it. And by "official" I mean from the band themselves, not a third party.

I PMed Blair about this and he answered the PM in the August newsletter:
SUBJECT: RELIABLE SOURCE?
"This from someone who says he spoke to Alex Grey: Okay... so I went into NYC and went to the Alex Grey art exhibit... long story short, I ran into Alex Grey (which was so awesome)... I ask him about the new TOOL album... he says, "On the new TOOL album Maynard has taken a whole new approach to singing on the album... no one has ever done what he's done before... he doesn't even really sing on some of the songs... instead of saying words he'll just say syllables or the beginning of words... Would Alex Grey actually give out this kind of information? If so, how true is it?.. Thanks for any clarification you can give me on this."
REPLY:
I, too, have heard this "whole new approach to singing" but must tell you that it will not be included on the record, at least not as Alex and others might have heard it months ago. This is due to the concept of evolution with regards to vocal melodies. And I can assure you that there will be words (lyrics)... and lots of them.

the tools have put in a good year and a half working on the songs for this one. mjk even has words and melodies for the tunes already! and to be honest, i've heard all the demos for the cuts that are going on the album... i was even asked to critque em a few times...haha(danny is nuts)! and i can safely say this.... with a few epic 15 minute plus tunes in the program... IMO... think "meddle" meets "master of reality" meets "discipline" meets "undertow". on top of that, with joe barresi engineering....it's gonna be KILLER! prog rock is gonna be crunchin' and slithering towards the masses once again in a few months!
choice!
thanx and cheers, john Z
