No real news, but I did get this message from Lustmord: "I swung by the studio to check in on those Tool guys earlier btw. Someone has to keep them on their toes... All is going well and sounding good. Just thought you might like to know "

well, i don't have news on the actualy album but www.toolband.com was updated today with some news on the "Schism" dvd. Finally some sort of news on something. And Blair also gives us hope on that live dvd being released soon. Anyway, here's the update: Some of you having been emailing about the "Schism" DVD that's being advertised on several websites with a release date of December 20th. To answer your questions as to whether or not I can confirm this, the answer is that, while I can't confirm that EXACT date, the plan is to release a DVD featuring the videos for Schism and Parabol/Parabola with added extras (more details later) sometime in DECEMBER of this year. So, the December 20th date looks pretty good for the Sam Goody's type chains, and when more specifis become available to me, I'll post this additional info in the news section. PLEASE NOTE that this is NOT the (much anticipated) Tool live DVD, which will be released at some point, although exactly when is still a great unknown.

Usually rumors going around the TOOL chat rooms have no foundation in reality. I just thought I'd post it because there is nothing else to do besides speculate. January 17 would kind of make sense, because it's the Tuesday after Adam's birthday and TOOL seems to like to release stuff on or around people's birthdays. If you recall, the original release date for Lateralus was April 17, 2001, which was Maynard's 37th birthday.

Heh. I know I've brought this up before, but, based on what you just said it would be really funny if that actually was the release date. Cuz my birthday's 4 days after that....

Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL has entered the mixing stage on its new album, according to sources close to the band, and is looking at an April or May release for the disc, its first since 2001's "Lateralus". As is typical for TOOL, few details have emerged about the project since the band reconvened earlier this year to begin recording. TOOL drummer Danny Carey told Launch that while the new music was hard to describe, he thought fans would have no problem recognizing it. "All I can say is you should probably just look at the past TOOL records," he said. "It's just kind of the next stage of development. Some of the tunes are pretty heavy on this one. It's still gonna be weird time signatures and all that stuff. It's just what comes out of us, you know. We just try to be true to our chemistry when we're in the little room in here together jamming, and what comes out comes out."
As reported last week, TOOL will release two mini-DVDs on December 20, both for tracks from "Lateralus". The discs, for the songs "Schism" and "Parabola", feature the videos for both tunes, commentary tracks from the members of TOOL and previously unreleased remixes. The group also reportedly has a live DVD in the works, although when that will be released remains undetermined.
TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan is preparing to release the first wines from his own personal vineyard. Three 2004 red wine blends will debut in the spring of 2006, with more information available at caduceus.org.
