Why do you think J.C emphasized repentance, because every intolerant act (against ourselves or others) that we indulge in rapes us of our creative forces, if you don't believe me, meditate on it. I can no longer meditate however, (for long periods of time) due to an internal terrorist event which really burns my shoulder blade(see Alex Grey's painting Despair) to the point of agony.

My enemies hatred unvieled, betwixing my soul and my will A hatefull monolith of stone within A cancer upon a thrill untangling the evil letting go of the alter upon which breeds a lucifarian culture my mind is clear my soul is still the eternity within must not go to waste but must be felt
P.s. Our minds owe our souls a great debt, we must not destroy them both!

First of all, your title of this thread is not what the context of the post is. You say pessimissim is creativity's enemy but then go on to post about repentance of intolerant acts. Which is it? Pessimissim is not always creativity's enemy. In fact, it can spurn much creativity. Do you really think a pessimist canot be creative? You have to be an optimist to create? Creativity comes from both ends of the spectrum. Without one, wouldn't art be rather one-sided? As far as repentance. First let's look at the definition for repentance: repentance
n. 1. The act or process of repenting. 2. Remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin.
contrition
n : sorrow for sin arising from fear of damnationRepentance is simply feeling regret or remorse. So, as long as I feel remorse for any intolerant acts I have committed, everything is okay? No, it's not. Yes, I should feel remorse if I have hurt someone, but it shouldn't just end there. I should make amends to the person I have hurt. I should correct what I have done, not simply feel bad about it. And amends should be made only for the reason: that you don't want to hurt another human being. That you want to correct the situation so the other person does not hurt. If you are making amends because you "fear damnation" your amends mean nothing except that you are looking out for yourself. Okay, I know I have gotten off the main subject: creativity, but I felt I needed to clear that up first. Intolerant acts do not necessarily rape us of our creativity, but it certainly rapes us of our humanity and compassion. Can a person be creative without their humanity and compassion? I believe so. Creativity does not always come from a positive, compassionate mind. Their are many artists in our history that just weren't "good people" and didn't lead exemplary lives. Yet, they were creative and produced amazing art. I am not saying that it is okay to be intolerant, to have no compassion. I don't think it is okay. I wish more people could be be more tolerant and compassionate. But the fact is, you don't have to be to create art. Again, intolerance rapes us of our own humanity, it hurts not only others but ourselves, but I don't believe it always stops any creative forces. Creativity comes from many different minds and not all of those minds are positive and tolerant.

I'm better now. I've had a really rough week. Kind of been on hiatus for a few days, but I think things are looking up. Trying to keep a victorious mentality. Hopefully I'll keep my cool and not snap at anyone this week. How you doing?

That's okay. We're turning a thread about pessimism into something positive.

"You cast your demons out. And not to pull your halo down around your neck and tug you off your cloud, but I'm more than just a little curious how you're planning to go about making your amends to the dead."
That is all =)
