Lately, I have been searching the Internet for appropriate places to send my creative writing. Here are a few sites you may want to check out: www.stickmanreview.comwww.undergroundvoices.comwww.pindeldyboz.comStickman Review is actually accepting submissions for a fiction contest until November 1, 2005. Make sure you follow each magazine's submission guidelines and proofread your work before sending it in. The sites listed above also have links to other literary magazines, so it's very likely that you'll find one willing to give you a chance. If anyone has more links to add here, that would be awesome. Also, please tell us where you've sent your work and if it gets rejected or accepted, so we can buy the magazine and see your name in print! If your work gets rejected, we can boycott that magazine.

I just received an e-mail from the editor of Pindeldyboz saying that my submission was rejected! She said that she "thought it was a good scenario, but the dialogue was a bit more dramatic than we generally publish." What does that mean, exactly? She probably should have said: "Your story was well-written, but we have a problem with swear words. However, if you were an established writer, we would have ignored the couple of f-bombs." A huge FUCK YOU to Pindeldyboz! You'll be kicking yourselves when I'm rich and famous and don't want anything to do with your little bird cage liner of a magazine.

I submitted my "Cardinal Envy" poem to an online magazine called Cherry Bleeds, and even though the editor rejected it, he said he enjoyed my work and encouraged me to send some more poetry in October, when he'll start reading for the first couple of issues in 2007. Apparently, the only reason he declined my poem was that he already had enough submissions for the rest of this year. He also told me that I could send up to six poems at a time, so I should compile my best ones and send them to him in a few months.

I'm still waiting to hear back from a few magazines, but I've been rejected several times as well - sometimes within less than a week of submitting, which makes me wonder if they read my writing at all! It's getting really frustrating and draining to look for literary magazines online, read samples of stuff they've already published (pretentious crap usually), read their submission guidelines, and finally send my work to them, only to get rejected. That being said, I'll never get published if I don't submit stuff, so I have to keep trying.

Great news, everyone! One of my poems has been accepted for publication in The Verse Marauder! Check out their website on January 15 to read "Vitamin C" by yours truly, Alida Santandrea! Thank you, thank you... ;D

Sorry it took me so long to read your poem, Alida. I forgot to check the site. I liked it, especially the 'vulnerable as an upside porcupine'. The whole thing makes me want citrus fruit. ;D
