I think a lot of people have. I also think that Maynard has lost some admirers, so people don't want to come here and talk about him. Finally, I think that since 10,000 Days isn't the greatest album in the world, people don't want to talk about that, either. I could be wrong, though.

No, I don't think you're wrong Alida.
On some levels I do believe that Maynard has lost the respect of some fans with things he has said/done recently.
Although I see Puscifer as Maynard's little joke and something for him to have fun with, many, many people are a little perturbed about a few things. Especially him selling those targets and making fun of the people buy them. It's kind of sad to use your fans as your own gag reel, in my opinion. I mean I get it that it's silly that people would pay money for anything that Maynard touches, but I think it's wrong to "bait" people and then make fun of them. And to continue to raise the price just to see how far he can take it, how stupid people will be. You shouldn't do that to your fans, in my opinion.
Yet....that is Maynard. Puscifer is kind of the epitome of Maynard. It's not necessarily a bad thing. He has a great sense of humor and that's something that I've always admired about him. And I have to admit his cockiness is something that always attracted me to him.
But it can, and in my opinion, has maybe gone too far. The cockiness comes off not as a fun, good thing but more of a cruel and hurtful thing. Same with the humor.
And I'm not going to go into what all he said about healthcare. Some of it was just ridiculoous. Not everyone can afford the best of food and have pesonal trainers and catered meals, etc. , etc. That whole diatribe was just plain snobbery to me.
I don't care for how he spoke of his fans that think songs are about them, yada yada yada. I understand how he feels about it, but I wish he could have expressed his feelings in a better way. (I tried, but he's gonna do what he's gonna do!)
As far as 10,000 days. Some people like it, some don't. I know alot of fans are very dissapointed. Personally, I'm not thrilled with it. I see no growth in the music. It doesn't feel like a lot of thought went into it. Most of it sounds like too many other Tool songs. And not in the way that you can tell it's a Tool song because it's Tool, but in the way that it just sounds like they took parts of previous Tool songs and threw them together. It's not a bad album. But I don't think it's their best by far.
I know it's not just me and the people I know. It's not just some people here. Even at Tool Army I have seen the respect for Maynard drop. And some fans are not thrilled at all with 10,000 days and also with some performances by Maynard where he seemed to just not even care.
However, with all that said, I'm not bashing Maynard. I think he's used some bad judgment, I think he's been an ass about some things. BUT.....most people just don't get that Maynard has ALWAYS been that way. I think people are just now realizing it where they simply had blind admiration and fandom. Maynard is a cocky ass and openly admits it. That is how he is, always has been, like it or not. But I also don't feel like coming here and praising him. You can be cocky and humorous and even be an ass....but I don't think it's cool to fuck with your fans. Maynard doesn't like fans and that's absolutely fine with me, but leave it alone. You don't have to make fun of your fans, be an ass to them or perform for them like you could care less.
I love the man, but there are definitely things that I very much disagree with.
This is why I'd much rather stay away from "fan boards". I loved this place because of the people here. I bop in Tool Army occasionally because there are some people I dearly care for there. But, even as Maynard says.....just enjoy the music (or not) and leave the rest alone, and that's what we all should do. Come here and enjoy each other, learn from one another, give to one another, discuss music, politics, the world. And just have fun.
Hugs to you all. S.

I don't care for how he spoke of his fans that think songs are about them, yada yada yada. I understand how he feels about it, but I wish he could have expressed his feelings in a better way. Yeah, that one did it for me. Calling people with mental illnesses "nuts" and implying that they are unstable and immature is just not cool. It only adds to the stigma. I have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type, and although I have let my Maynard obsession get the better of me in the past and have seen this happen to other people (especially in TOOL chat), I am certainly not immature and neither are these other people. We just have some faulty brain chemistry - most often due to a traumatic experience like child abuse, which ironically Maynard sings about in at least one TOOL song. Fuck Maynard. He's only biting the hand that feeds him, since those who are obsessed with him are the ones who buy everything he sells: CDs, t-shirts, wine, and yes, even targets. I wanted to order some t-shirts from the Puscifer site for Christmas presents but now I don't feel like it. Whatever. I'm going to stop here because this thread is probably going to get deleted anyway.

Ultimately, the decision to delete this thread would be up to B, as I did leave him in charge. But in my opinion, I see nothing wrong with leaving it open.
Maynard spoke out and I don’t know why anyone here couldn’t state their opinions on what he said. As long as everyone is respectful of each other of course. I wouldn’t want to see anyone bashing another member for their opinion.
During the April Fools joke, we had quite a lively discussion here and I think that’s a good thing. I would never post a personal e-mail, but I did get Maynard’s approval to post what he stated to me in two different conversations during that period. So, why not be able to discuss the things he has recently said/done?
I don’t feel it’s disrespectful if you have a not so great opinion on the new Tool album. To each his own on that matter also. And when Maynard publicly says things, there is no reason why we can’t rebuttal and state how we feel.
I say, carry on. (But respectfully to other members)
But Bastardometer – I leave the final decision up to you.

I have no problem with this thread........so far. You can still respect someone and disagree with them (i.e. Maynards mySpace posts')
Thanks for the voice Dear
