Same old guy i was before. a little better informed. I listened to the tracks i like from all three albums many times now and i'm hooked. Not necessarily with maynard because i don't care for his politics. but his voice with billy's production savy and josh, james and jeordie are incredible. I hope they produce something new soon. Less politics would be nice.

Same old guy i was before. a little better informed. I listened to the tracks i like from all three albums many times now and i'm hooked. Not necessarily with maynard because i don't care for his politics. Less politics would be nice The only "political" album was emotive, with the exception of the song "Pet" on the 13th Step. Out of 3 (well 4 counting the remix cd on amotion) albums and only one being political (which actually, again with the exception of CBLSTTROTWD, wasn't necessarily "political", but as Maynard described it, "songs about war, peace, love and greed") I don't know how you can say, "less politics would be nice". They had already produced two unbelievably moving, beautiful cds with Mer de Noms and The 13th Step. Then emotive comes out and everyone starts jumping down Maynard's throat about being political. Yes, they made a statement with this cd, but I don't think you can say they are too political when you look at all their work. And besides, why just Maynard? Maynard was not the only one that participated in emotive. This always gets to me. There are other band members and I don't think MJK held a gun to their heads to produce this cd. but his voice with billy's production savy and josh, james and jeordie are incredible. I hope they produce something new soon. . And you cannot forget Paz and Troy! I miss Paz and Troy. Where the hell is Troy anyway? I doubt we'll see anything new for at least a couple years. With Tool's new cd and eventual tour, it will be quite some time before we see APC again. I want more APC.

well excuse me!!! I meant emotive and my statement about his politics goes way beyond the music. I've seen his interviews. He is a typical extreme left wing liberal and that's o.k.. I just don't happen to agree with him. sorry i caught you after your dream about him. There is nothing quite as bad as coitus interuptus.

You gave an opinion and I gave an opinion. Nothing wrong with a little give and take. I guess if you meant emotive, you should have made that more clear. You made a rather broad statement when you said you had listened to all 3 albums and then went on to say "less politics would be nice". I wasn't trying to flame you. I was wondering how you could make this statement when only 1 out of 4 cd's were political. And if you were talking about Maynard's personal opinions on politics, that should have been made clear also. You lumped your statement about his politics right in the same sentence about listening to the 3 albums. Your post was not very clear. You don't agree with Maynard's politics and that's okay with me too. I was discussing the music and in your post you seemed to be also. I never got nasty with you, I simply gave my opinion. I see no reason for you to make such silly statements as "sorry I caught you after your dream about him". That was a bit immature. Sorry we couldn't have had a simple debate without resorting to that kind of thing.

You are absolutely right. I apologize also. Let's start over.
I dig the music. That's the most important thing to me, really.
I have a hard time sometimes separating the art from the other bull shit. Especially when it is so in your face.
You have to admit though that this site has had several comments about Maynard's political views. Not all positive.
I would like to hear some of Tool's work without buying it first. I visited their website and it does'nt have links to their music. Where can I go on-line to hear their music?
WTF is LMAO? I don't know chat language.
Thanks for your patience.
J.W.

Cool. Thanks J.W. I honestly have no problem with you or anyone expressing your political opinions or Maynard's. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be silent and not give you my opinions back. But giving my opinions that differ from someone else's does not mean I don't respect theirs. So, never think I don't respect you or your opinions if I disagree with you. I hope you can separate the art from what you consider bullshit. It's like dismissing a rose because of the thorns. You would be missing out on some very beautiful, inspiring music. As far as sampling Tool's music, if you go to Toolband.com you can listen to samples of all their songs. (Just click on the album link at the top of the screen and click each album....it will give you samples of the songs.) LMAO=Laughing My Ass Off. There are other versions: LOL=Laughing Out Loud and LMFAO: Laughing My Fucking Ass Off and ROTFLMAO=Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Ass Off. Actually I have always had quite an aversion to using the "chat speak", but recently have given in to it a bit. Thanks again J.W. Glad we could "start over". Take care.
