Good question and perfect timing. I finally found out the meaning of MY life the other day. I had a nun at work the other day tell me that I was put on this earth just to test her. Hahahahahahahahaha! My life has meaning!

People are always talking about how they want to be burned cuz they don't want to be eaten my worms and rot. That's just down right selfish. worms, maggots, and such gatta live too. I'm going to be buried so just incase my life never amounted to much at least I gave the earth SOMETHING.

Haha. Awesome fairyblood. I agree. I want to be buried in a pine box without being embalmed. I don't know if you were just kidding, but actually this is something I feel very strongly about. However, there are only certain cemetaries that allow this type of burial. Check out the laws in your state. Read more about 'green' burial HERE

Thanks for that link alien! I kind of liked the "memorial reef" idea.
“Wouldn’t it be nicer to leave acres of woods as the living legacy of your death?”
Most definitely. I have always thought cemeteries were such a waste of nature.
Although I do have to admit, there is a beautiful old cemetery just a few blocks from my house that I love to walk through. It has gorgeous statues, and very interesting old, old headstones.
But...to keep going and adding more and more cemeteries, using the land for bodies and headstones is ridiculous and such a waste.

I saw this exhibit last year in L.A. Very interesting. This is the way to go here: Body Donation for Plastination (Yes. These pictures are of REAL people that donated their bodies) All anatomical specimens on display in the exhibitions BODY WORLDS and BODY WORLDS 2 are authentic. They belonged to persons who declared during their lifetime that their bodies should be made available after their deaths for the qualification of physicians and the instruction of laypersons. Many donors underscore that by donating their body, they want to be useful to others even after their death. Their selfless donations allow us to gain unique insights into human bodies, which have thus far been reserved for physicians at best. Therefore, we wish to thank the 6.000 living and 300 deceased body donors. For these purposes the Heidelberg Institute for Plastination maintains a special body donation program. Before signing a declaration of intent, all body donors are provided with detailed information. An information brochure published precisely for this purpose informs donors about the plastination technique, the history of body donation for plastination, information on the Institute for Plastination, how to become a body donor, what happens with the body at the Institute after death, and how the plastinates are used. Body donation for plastination purposes constitutes a declaration of will, which may be revoked at any time. Once a year a body donation meeting mostly takes place at the Institute for Plastination in Heidelberg. Meeting Gunther von Hagens personally gives body donors the opportunity to exchange views with him. Moreover news around the BODY WORLDS exhibitons as well as new projects are presented at this opportunity. More info: www.bodyworlds.com/en/pages/home.asp

That's kinda freaky, but yeah, I have also considered donation to science in one way or another.

There are some great threads here that make us think, that make us question ourselves and life around us.
Most don't really fit in to "Our World" and I hate seeing them in the Abyss.
So I started this new board "Think About It" for such threads.
This one I'm moving there.

Sanford and Son, Three's Company......you must watch a lot of Nick at Nite, Brit. I think if you want to get anywhere near figuring out the meaning of life (even simplifying it to, "what meaning does your life have?) you have to stay far, far away from the TV.
